Description
New formulation – better than ever!
We went back to the drawing board and completely reimagined what a great espresso could be. A calibrated blend of South American and African coffees. A burst of clean citrus acidity with floral notes and a creamy body.
Brewing temperature should be 201°F at 9 bars. We recommend 18 grams ground for a double shot at 44ml, excluding crema. Shot times best between 20-30 seconds.

It’s possible we made a mistake traveling to Java2. While it’s true that we have yet to encounter another human wherever we have gone, it’s not fair to say the place is uninhabited. For one thing there remains these abandoned cities. Well, not cities per se, more like grand monument complexes. Empty. Somebody had to build them. But where are they? The original travelers from the ICS swear there is nothing to fear – that this world is an unspoiled paradise. Then again many of them have gone quite mad. There is no denying there is a presence here. You can always sense it. Eidolons in the shadows. It’s like we have woken something. Something ancient. Primordial. The whisperer in darkness.

A lot of companies claim they have sustainable coffee but these guys really deliver the goods! Sourcing coffee beans from a parallel Earth is a brilliant solution to the crisis we face on our world. Now I don’t have to feel guilty about enjoying my morning ritual. I am now their number 1 fan!

This coffee is the best – Earth2 must be as pristine as they say in order to get a coffee as high quality as this. Nothing else like it in this world. If only there was a way to visit Earth2, just to see how it is done. That would be a really awesome trip!! I would give anything for the chance.

Seriously, if there is any way I could visit Earth2 sign me up! I would work for free, do anything that is needed. Going to Earth2 is my dream. Are you guys hiring?!? I have nearly 6 years of experience in coffee – and I am Q certified!

Just came back from this year’s SCA Exhibition and had the strangest experience. I had signed up for a number of cupping sessions offered by micro-importers. During the afternoon session I came across a sample of Mexico2 from Hurqalya Coffee Importers. I asked if they were the ones that supplied Redshift Coffee. The rep merely smiled. I asked if there was any way to contact Redshift, because I was really interested in working for them. He took my contact info and promised to pass it on. The next day I didn’t see any samples from Hurqalya. Nobody I asked had ever heard of them. Did I imagine the whole thing?

Decided after the SCA Exhibition to do some camping and hiking on the way home. I needed to stop at a laundromat in a tiny rural town to clean my clothes. This place was a real throw back to another time. They even had an old tube style TV playing telenovelas. Despite there being no sound on the TV I found myself entranced. Then the screen goes all snowy, in the fuzz glimpses of Redshift Coffee bags, then a distorted voice like that of a numbers station could be heard – or at least I thought I could hear – maybe it was just in my head. I realized the numbers the voice was repeating was a set of coordinates. I plugged the numbers into my maps app for directions. I’m going there now.

The coordinates led me to a nondescript building in an office park in the middle of nowhere. There I met Randy Carter, Operations Director for Redshift. Seems their last coffee buyer unexpectedly disappeared and they were looking for someone to start immediately. So now I am the new coffee buyer! Let’s hope I don’t disappear! 😉

I like to think that being a coffee buyer is a form of activism. With Redshift I can finally put my activism to work. Now I can finally make a difference. So many roasters pontificate about how sustainable their buying practices are but in the end they are just participating in a system that exploits the environment and people. Sourcing from a parallel world solves this problem.

My predecessor left behind a number of samples that I am excited to get through. The challenge is that the samples are identified only by their geo-coordinates. Judging by his cupping notes he clearly was very knowledgeable and selective although he appears to have left rather abruptly, or as corporate says, disappeared. I have asked around about who he was, thinking that I may have met him before. No one will give me an answer, only a blank stare for a moment then they change the subject.

One strange thing I noticed in the Cupping Lab was an old typewriter with a black disk above it. On the paper in the typewriter was a message welcoming me to Redshift. I was told that if I wanted any specific coffee to type in the coordinates here. I guess someone from corporate comes by and takes the paper or something. I am not sure how it works.

Okay, that’s weird . . . The typewriter just started typing by itself.
It’s a message from Hurqalya Trading, looks like I’m going to be a traveler to Earth2!
